Personal Statement Writing Workbook
Personal Statement Writing Workbook
When I wrote my first personal statement for post-undergraduate life, I had no idea what I was doing. What was I supposed to say? Who would be reading it? Was I interesting enough? How do I get started?
Since then, I’ve gotten much more comfortable with writing personal statements, and several of my friends have asked about my writing process. Personal statements can be daunting, but since I’ve learned some things about writing personal statements (and I even enjoy them), I made this workbook to help you write your own statement!
The Personal Statement Writing Workbook helps you do the following:
understand the function of a personal statement
identify meaningful personal experiences
outline milestones in your experience
discuss periods of growth in your life
communicate why you are applying
craft a personal statement
It is full of my insights on writing personal statements, and it has plenty of room to respond to prompts sprinkled throughout that do everything from making a plan to tackle the writing process to freewriting exercise to help you tell your story. This workbook also contains examples and explanations from my own personal statement, specifically my personal story and examples of growth.
Writing a personal statement can be anxiety-inducing, but I hope to help make it even a little less stressful :)
When printed folded, this workbook can be assembled into a booklet.
